1. Pick your Main DPS. This is your on-field carry who deals the most damage. Choose based on your roster and the enemies' elemental weaknesses.

2. Add a Stunner or Second DPS. For hyper carry teams, a Stunner builds Daze to create Chain Attack windows. For Disorder teams, add a second Anomaly agent of a different element.

3. Add a Support or Flex. Supports buff damage, heal, or provide shields. Defense agents offer survivability for difficult content. Pick what your team lacks.

4. Match elements when possible. Mono-element teams benefit from shared buffs and debuffs. However, a mixed-element team with synergy beats a mono team without it.

Do I need all S-Rank agents for good teams?

No. A-Rank agents at max refinement (R5 W-Engine, C6 Mindscape) can match or exceed base S-Rank performance. The Pyrois + Norma + Nicole F2P team clears all story and most endgame content. S-Ranks give you more options but aren't required.

Should I build mono-element teams?

Mono-element teams are strong when fighting enemies weak to that element. However, Shiyu Defense often features enemies with different weaknesses on each side, so having two teams with different elements is more important than mono-element synergy.

How important is team synergy vs individual strength?

Synergy > individual strength. Three S-Rank agents with no synergy will underperform a well-synergized team with A-Ranks. Buff stacking, elemental reactions, and role balance matter more than raw stats.
